It doesn't sit on my legs so the fans aren't blocked. It only started doing this yesterday, but did it twice in an hour so I gave up and left the laptop to cool down. Has anyone else had this problem? Since we're still in lockdown I've become addicted to sims again and this really sucks that the laptop doesn't seem to be able to handle it. My settings in the game are on laptop mode, and the other settings are on medium too so I don't think I'm asking too much from the game, right?
When I started the laptop the other day it did say it needed to restart in order to complete an update, but it wasn't from Windows so I ignored it. Maybe it restarted by its self, so I can forgive the first time it happened but not the second. The fans definitely got louder when it froze.
It's been playing the Sims fine for the first week or two I got it, now I just can't be bothered to even play it anymore. I really hope someone can help, even if you just say "You're an idiot, buy a new graphics card" or something.
Go to Solution. June People get busy and often don't have time to troubleshoot. Whenever you do have a chance to come back, someone will be here to try to help. Minidumps can get deleted after a while I'm not sure how long , depending on your settings. If you haven't had a critical event recently, then you wouldn't see a dump file.
But if you do happen to see a BlueScreen, please look for a minidump as soon as you reboot. The folders that are empty are also not necessarily anything to worry about. Like minidumps, the files inside can be deleted after a certain amount of time, but the folders are left behind. Having said that, if you happen to have a program running that automatically deletes temp files, please disable it for now.
It's more important to get that information than to keep your hard drive clean. Your new dxdiag shows crashes of Nahimic audio enhancement software and the newer version of the Alienware Command Center. I'd uninstall Nahimic first, as it's known to cause issues with many games, not just Sims 4.
Or if you'd like to keep it for now but test the game without it, you can find it in the Task Manager and End Task. If playing without Nahimic doesn't help, uninstall the Alienware Command Center as well, at least for now. Here's how:. If that doesn't help either though, the next step is hardware monitoring. I posted instructions under a spoiler a couple posts ago. Even though this laptop is new, it could have a hardware issue, and this is the fastest way to find out.
And if there is a problem, it's better to find it while the laptop is still under warranty. View in thread. The card you have is overkill for Sims 4 in its current state, and anyway, you couldn't upgrade it if you wanted to: most laptops aren't built to accommodate a GPU upgrade.
The issue could be excess heat, and there are ways to find out directly rather than guessing. But there are plenty of other potential causes of shutdowns, so it's best to cover some of those too. To that effect, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post. Thank you so much for replying. Would you need the whole diagnostic results? Everything has come back as no problems found and it's so much information I wouldn't know which part to post to share with you guys to help get an answer.
Actually managed to play Sims last night without it shutting down, but the laptop got so hot that I turned it off anyway just in case. Thank you again for replying, would've never thought of running a test. If you want to see how hot your laptop is internally, there are plenty of tools you can use.
Just let me know whether you'd like something lightweight, or a more comprehensive tool that picks up everything , and whether you'd like to upload a hardware log from a game session for me to look over. Hey sorry it took so long to reply to you. I hope the file I attached works. I just bought the Sims 2, downloaded it without any diffuculty, but when I run it I can only stay in it for a few minutes before my computer shuts itself off. I can keep my laptop on allnight and it will be fine to work in the morning, but when i try to run software it shuts off.
I tried downloading nortin antivirus and in the middle of the system scan it shut off, without fail, all seven times i attempted so far it had found 19 viruses Should i clean the memory and start fresh? Should I spend money and take it somewhere to be looked at? I know I don't need to play the sims, but i paid for it, and i cant return it, so i want to know how to fix this problem. Barring hardware failure, I'd say with 19 viruses you should reinstall, then go update your software from MS and plug those holes.
Also, check to see if your system meets the specs for playing Sim2. From what I recall it has some pretty hefty requirements. Just a word of advice. I loaded Sims on a friends machine 'XP' , and it took about 3 attempts.
You must read the installation instructions carefully. I found them convuluted, but It did work. More importantly. Can some one help me. Yeah when like I click on the family I want to play.. You know like once every things done loading it just turns off it's so annoying I'm about to beat the crap out of my computer. What's up with it does anyone know?
I have an I mac but it's my sisters computer so I don't know if it'll work.. I hate this so much it really stinks cause it's funner in my opinion to play on the desk top. I am absolutely obsessed with the sims I need it lol! Anne lovi answered. I know! When I edit my town it automatically swiches off.
I also got sims 3 world adventures and I tried to get my sim points but I had to activate it with the email they sent me THEN someone tried to log in my adress and now its totaly blocked.
Ellen Counsell answered. Try lowering the graphics in the settings menu, thats what I done and now its fine, but also save it often just incase. If that doesnt work then, like someone else said it might be you don't have that much meory, so delete things you don't need or use like old music, photos or videos or save them oto a memory card. I hope this helps! I have the same problem, and its really annoying me.
